hey, we did!

"In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people...and while the Democratic party has won a great victory tonight we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.

As Lincoln said, to a nation far more divided than ours, 'We are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.'"

Tonight, we once again heard the voice of a leader of nations. Tonight, the republic was born anew.

I am so happy I can hardly stand myself.

Oh, yeah. And George? You are so fired.

RIGHT ON SISTAH. LOVE IT! It was an inspiring night, including the very gracious speech McCain gave. I believe he really wanted this too, and he worked very hard, especially in recent weeks.

It's funny that on the night before the election I posted Lincoln's words on my blog called Looky Here. I was just in VA for 10 days and drove in to DC on a whim and visited Lincoln again. When I read the speech that was on one wall, I was astonished at how relevant it was to all the things we're going through as a nation today. I really got choked up. Stop by and read if you feel like it.

There are a very high expectations... I hope he can keep people inspired enough to not slink back into their comfort zones. Things falling apart like this is such an opportunity to rebuild and rebuild so differently. We the peeps just have to keep doing our part.

Yeeha!

BTW< Love the new look here...

It's a beautiful morning in America. I've never been so proud to be an American as I am today. And for the first time since Kennedy, Florida went with the Democrat.

I watched Fox News just to watch the talking heads cry. It feels soooooooo good.

And who would have expected the crowds outside the White House? I was looking for the pot of boiling tar, the basket of feathers and the rail.

Can we start the war crimes trials now?

I SO remember how I felt four years ago today... It was a beautiful clear crisp fall morning, and I felt like the world was coming to an end.

Today it's crappy, rainy and dark; and I feel like the sun is shining for the first time in almost a decade, and the world is just beginning.

I got my Barack email just before the speech, and he thanked me personally. Uh, unless we all got one of those.

I wish I still had the depressed entry I did 4 years ago, but AOL just vaporized it.

Gigi please don't be too elated, the letdown will only hurt more. PE Obama, like all politicos, has made himself indebted to the people who actually run this country, our President is a mere figurehead and democracy has yet to be seen in action here. I'm from the old hippie age and did my time for change in those trenches so you can trust me in my opinion that Mr. O will be far too busy finding a way to keep the coming war in Iran and the depression at arm's length than to form a true republic. Still - your enthusiasm would've been useful in 1971. http://cathy-daretothink.blogspot.com/

Your condescension toward my enthusiasm regarding the new president is duly noted.

It is true that as a writer and indeed, as a person, I am much given to the use of hyperbole. Hyperbole, Cathy, is defined as 'a figure of speech in which statements are exaggerated. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is rarely meant to be taken literally.'

Hyperbole, you see, is 'used to create emphasis. It is a literary device often used in poetry, and is frequently encountered in casual speech.'

I see no reason to trust your opinion as an old hippie above my own ~ I do, in fact, 'dare to think' ~ I simply dare to think differently than you. Cynicism is not to be mistaken for realism, and thinking people may still experience hope for the future of this country.
